  • RACE 1

5-Bank Sea – 1:51.4 winner @ The Big M back in early June, flashed a sneaky :26.3 from post ten last week, draws better with some class relief here

7-Quality Closer – Can be just that & based on last week’s effort this 1:52.2 winner here this season could be ready to unleash a more threatening rally

4-Jackamino – Took a 1:52.2 mark here this season, has been better in his last two @ Yonkers & draws well to carve out a smooth trip

    RACE 2

1-She Rocks Kemp – One for 11, but definitely going in the right direction up in Ontario, stormed home from post ten to just miss an upset in the OSS Super Final & draws inside her stablemate

7-Creature Of Habit – Love the way she came to life with some speed & romped to a decisive score in her Big M debut, has to be the one to fear off that easy first win

6-Word Of Honor – Beaten favorite came on strong while Creature Of Habit cruised uncontested last week, this Team Orange Crush filly is gathering momentum

    RACE 3

3-Winning American – Stayed flat in his last two while chasing much tougher foes, Andrew Harris barn had a nice opening weekend & this one lands in a prime spot

1-Explosive Ridge – Took a mark of 1:53.3 here this season, freshened & qualified in fine fashion & lands the rail for the always dangerous Richard Johnson

4-Keystone Orion – 10YO changed barns, responded to aggressive handling & scored an overdue win @ Saratoga with the trainer driving, draws well to trip out here

    RACE 4

3-Vintage Babe – 0 for 18 this season, but we’ll give her that post ten acclimating mile last wee, she was tackling tougher last month & draws inside a field ripe for the taking

4-Summer Rock – Qualified adequately after tailing off @ The Meadows, note the barn change to the often reliable Robert Lounsbury & draws well in a highly beatable field

7-Final Escape – This filly went all the way for a new mark from post seven two starts back @ Rosecroft, one of the few bright spots in here going in the right direction in this match up

    RACE 5

6-Roundtown Rocker – Drops from tougher condition events, his form is decent, knows his way around this oval & faces a camera-shy bunch

2-Super Manning – 11YO has been regaining form in his last few, fresh off two solid seconds he draws inside to set up his preferred stalking trip

1-Broadway Bruiser – Just missed with a gutsy first over effort two starts back @ Monticello, just one for 35 this season, but has a chance to be a serious factor with patient handling

    RACE 6

6-Sail By – First two siblings Fine Art & Captain Ahab banked over $100,000, this Captaintreacherous filly did indeed “sail by” with a sterling rally in Lexington, she could be an emerging star for the Alagna Armada

5-Annabelle Hanover – Took charge, stole a pedestrian :58 half & held off Breeders Crown bound stablemate Marloe Hanover & now draws better

3-JK Finendandy – Nancy Johansson trainee progressed & showed versatility elsewhere before her dull effort in the Bluegrass, three weeks, plus a better post could spell rebound

    RACE 7

3-Max – Ron Burke trainee ships in on a form spree, grinded gamely for third last out @ Pocono, went all the way from post seven before that & might be the one to knock off

2-Cruising In Style – Beaten favorite almost pulled it off, made a methodic move to the front & just missed in his Big M debut & draws inside to build on that

5-Misslarose – Has enjoyed success here in the past with a mark of 1:52.4 last year, been racing well @ The Meadows, now note the barn change to Team Bongiorno

    RACE 8

5-Sudden Change N – Scott Di Domenico trainee arrives on a roll @ Yonkers, this steady 8YO veteran goes for three in a row & figures to be forwardly placed

4-Monica Gallagher – Has gone on a tear here in the past, right there third from post eight in a strong return to this oval & now drops & draws an improved post

6-Hurrikane Shorty – Ships in after winning three of her last four on half milers, beat N/W of 8 @ Harrington, but not sure she measures up to the top two

    RACE 9

5-Call For Justice – Took a 1:52.4 mark here this season, has been a contender in the Open @ Harrington, now the right flags are hoisted with the barn change to Ron Burke

7-La Grange A – Won back-to-back here in 1:54.1 in April for Ake Svanstedt, now with Paul Kelley he makes his second start off the bench at a greatly reduced level

2-Zlatan – Took a mark of 1:52.3 here in late June, has been struggling against better @ Harrah’s Philadelphia, now gets class & post relief

    RACE 10

3-Chief Mate – Unleashed a pretty sharp :26.2 to hit the board chasing heavy favorite Captain Barbossa last week, draws inside again off that an excellent acclimating mile

1-Force N Fury – Forced to settle for second to Breeders Crown bound standout Papi Rob Hanover last week, logically looks like he leads the Alagna Armada quintet from the rail

4-Major Risky – Perked up with solid speed in his latest two @ The Red Mile, have to forgive the miscue here last week, has a chance to rebound & step up to compete the Alagna 1-2-

    RACE 11

7-Dynamic Edge – 0 for 18 this season, yet could be a sneaky good play in this head scratcher, has ramped up his game elsewhere, his last two @ Pocono were good & owns some back class

2-Muscle High – Surprised more than a few with his come-to-life upset from post ten last Saturday for his new barn, rewarded with an inside draw for the step up in class

3-Inukchuk Chuck – This gelding has been able to thrive in the amateur races, reeling off five in a row & lowered his mark to 1:55 @ The Red Mile, draws well in a wide open field

    RACE 12
6-Hall Of AM S – Advanced willingly & chased a convincing winner last week with a nice rebound off a miscue, Muscle Hill filly with plenty of upside for the prolific Melander barn

4-Scorched Romance – Ships south after winning three of her last four in OSS action @ Mohawk & draws well in a so-so division for Nifty Norman

7-Heaven – One for 13 filly garnered a lot of attention despite post ten & finished an okay fourth from post ten, her previous two @ The Red Mile worth noting

    RACE 13

4-Deplorable Tom – Has responded to the barn change to Andrew Harris & addition of Lasix, almost went all the way from post seven in a sharp debut here as the beaten favorite & now draws better

3-Some More Prince – Moves inside fresh off an excellent acclimating mile closing from far back to grab second behind a runaway winner, only one for 30 this season is a concern

8-Cantab Fashion – 1:51.4 freshman winner made it all the way to the $1 million Hambletonian Final, tough draws for his second start off the bench, but loaded with talent

    (6) BETTOR SPIRITS N raced well against tougher horses over at Saratoga and likely races well on the drop in class as well as the move to the bigger track. (9) DA MAGICIAN ships southeast from Fraser Downs where he dominated the Pacific Northwest pacing stock. So long as he shipped soundly he has the speed to race competitively here. (3) SO TAKE THAT enters off a sharp off-the-pace victory at Rosecroft as the even-money favorite. He’ll have to sit a bit closer to the speed but that win shows he’s in good-enough form to race well. (2) MAY I CRUISE WEST competed well at the amateur level through the summer and could regain that form off two efforts from outside posts over at Freehold. He better suits the bigger track.

    Rayce 2

    (2) OHIO LARRY won at Freehold against similar last out by parking the mile uncovered as the odds-on favorite. The only way he loses here is if that mile tuckered his soul, but the fractions seemed slow enough that he should come into this race fine. (4) I WILL DO IT consistently went first over at Freehold and collected many checks. She probably can benefit moving to two turns. (10) THE SAINT showed speed at Vernon last week but faded after clearing command into the final turn. He can likely work a stalking trip from that outside spot and sneak onto the ticket at a price. (9) SUTTON SEELSTER enters off a sick scratch but went an aggressive mile at 32-1 in his most recent mile about a month ago. He could need a start but also can sit in the right spot to hit the ticket.

    Rayce 3

    (3) TIE YOUR SHOE ED stretches out and drops in class off sharp miles at Freehold. He should race even better on the bigger track (note: this angle will be a trend with all these flippin’ Freehold shippers). (8) ROCKINWITHTHEBEST tried going first over at Pocono but gave chase to a better horse last out. He has the ability to perform well here but its tough to tell where he should race, considering speed held predominantly last night due to nobody pulling. (2) MR CARROTTS enters off a confidence-boosting mile where he pulled first over and gave chase to finish third against similar at Pocono. His other two races can be excused since he had to chase too quick of fractions so he could now be in a spot where he can compete. (4) ASHLEY’S HUSBAND won easily at a lower company as the 2-5 favorite at Saratoga last out. He’s typically raced well at the Meadowlands but where he fits on the class ladder is currently tough to gauge. At the very least the bottom level is an easy starting point.

    Rayce 4

    (7) ONE TOUGH NUT has won in two of his last three starts, both of which came at a $10,000 claiming tag. He also has the necessary speed to probably walk away with this race. (3) IDEAL SON makes his first start since June but the time off probably helps him. He enters off a decent qualifier over a sloppy track at the Meadowlands and the drop in class—while not entirely appealing—could work for him on the return. (1) SOMETHINGINTHEWIND races for a cheaper tag likely to get a better draw. With the inside post—considering his last two miles—he can work a stalking trip. (2) DAYLYN HORIZON has raced well despite his up-the-track finishes. He ultimately has one move and just has to make it at the right point. At the very least he can hit the ticket at a price or just miss the board and hope for a straight $7,500 tag next week.

    Rayce 5

    (3) MCCITO raced well against this level before the Hambo hiatus and has since competed well at Monticello and Yonkers. His most recent mile from post 8 was great despite 73-1 odds and he hopefully enters this race at a decent price again. (2) THESPYWHOLOVEDME kicked to the finish in :27.2 in a qualifier and likely takes a ton of play as a result. He also makes his first start in a month after needed time off so that also plays into his hands. Likely overbet though. (5) THE DARK SHADOW showed a ton of speed in late spring but then turned out for four months. He qualified well last week and could hit the board. (1) FINAL JUSTICE finished best of the rest for a claiming tag at Philadelphia last out. The connections protect him this week and also get a better draw so he may find his way into the mix.
