The Board of the Breeding Association and Trottex announce in a press release that due to the current Corona crisis, it has been decided to move this year's Elite auction.

    - In the light of the authorities' directives and assumptions about the effects of the Coronavirus in the coming months and the health risks it poses for Sweden's breeders, horse owners and trainers with an auction in May, there is no other decision to make, says ASVT chairman Ingemar Alin.

Another reason why ASVT is already making the decision is the sharp downturn in the economy and the stock market. This year's Elite Auction has announced a fantastic collection of one-year-olds. By far the most high quality ever. Since the economy is unlikely to recover until the last weekend in May, it would be a mistake to conduct the auction then.

    - It would simply be wrong for both the fine young horses and their breeders to sell them when their potential buyers focus in a completely different direction, emphasizes Ingemar Alin.

The breeding association and Trottex will conduct the Elite auction as soon as possible, but probably only after the summer. Know when will come as soon as we know that we can conduct the auction health-safe for the country's travesty enthusiasts and in an economy that has stabilized somewhat.

The horses that have been notified and then selected for the Elite auction will be put up in a digital auction catalog on asvt.se. The sellers who do not want to participate in this can free their horse from the auction free of charge. The cost of participating in this digital auction catalog will be significantly lower than the registration fee for the original Elite auction. We are doing this to present all the fine horses that are registered for the country's horse owners and trainers.

    - In cases where business can be done in the spring - in the summer privately between breeders, buyers and coaches, during the current crisis ASVT should not stand in the way but on the contrary support it. It will cost a lot of money for ASVT, but it serves the association's purpose well to protect the country's livestock and the trotting sport, says the auction council chairman Ove Konradsson.

ASVT will also open up further for sale of young horses at its already popular internet auctions with increased marketing to horse owners and trainers. ASVT is of the opinion that with improved information from the sellers in the form of pictures and videos to potential buyers, online auctions can strengthen their future market potential.

When is the Elit auction to be held? With the current Corona situation and economic situation in the country, we hope that no definitive message can be given at this time.

    - We will monitor the situation and have regular meetings every week and give notice as soon as the situation clears up. But we must focus on it being only after the summer, says Ingemar Alin and Ove Konradsson.
